But for many, the holidays bring on feelings of sadness and anxiety that can be hard to overcome. But why would anyone feel bad at this happy time of year? If we’re to believe the advertising, the Festive Season is nothing but parties and presents. So what’s to feel sad about?

This degenerative disease of the joints is a major cause of disability and chronic pain in Australia, with 3.85 million Australians affected at a cost to our economy of more than $23.9 billion each year in medical care and indirect costs such as loss of earnings and lost production.  2.4 million of those people are of working age, it is not a disease of the aging. It is the most common condition of the joints and most people have degenerative changes by the time they turn 40 (usually asymptomatic).
