Nutritional Benefits of Bone Broth.

What are the nutritional benefits of bone broth? Chicken bone broth has several potential health advantages. It is a nutrient-rich stock made from simmering chicken bones and connective tissues, often with added vegetables and herbs1.

Some benefits of chicken bone broth include:

Nutrient content:

Chicken bone broth is rich in nutrients such as collagen, gelatin, vitamins, and minerals, including calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium12. These nutrients can contribute to overall health and well-being.

Joint health:

The collagen and gelatin found in chicken bone broth may support joint health by promoting the production and repair of cartilage, which can be beneficial for individuals with arthritis or other joint conditions12.

Gut health:

The amino acids in chicken bone broth, such as glutamine and glycine, may support a healthy gut lining and aid in digestion13. The gelatin in bone broth can also help soothe and heal the intestinal lining3.

Immune system support:

Chicken bone broth contains compounds like amino acids, minerals, and gelatin that may support immune function2. The presence of anti-inflammatory compounds in bone broth may also contribute to immune health1.

Hydration:

Chicken bone broth can be a hydrating beverage due to its high water content and electrolyte content1. This can be especially beneficial during times of illness or intense physical activity.

Who may benefit from Bone Broth?

I recommend bone broth to my NON-Vegetarian and NON- vegan clients in particular circumstances. Mostly, I recommend it to people who need the nutritional benefits of bone broth; in kids where there's recurrent illness such as runny nose and common colds, tummy aches. Secondly patients that are tired and run down in general. Other people who may need the nutritional benefits of chicken bone broth include:

  1. People with Leaky gut syndrome: Bone broth contains collagen and amino acids like glutamine, which can help strengthen the intestinal lining and reduce leaky gut symptoms.[1]
  2. People withDigestive inflammation: The gelatin and nutrients in bone broth can help soothe inflammation in the digestive tract, potentially alleviating symptoms like bloating and discomfort.[1][3]
  3. People with Food intolerances and sensitivities: The collagen in bone broth can help improve the integrity of the gut lining, which may aid in the digestion and absorption of nutrients, potentially reducing symptoms related to food intolerances.[1][3]

Where can I get bone broth?

Bone broth can be obtained from various outlets or I have made it before, myself.

You can make bone broth at home by simmering bones (such as chicken, beef, or fish) with vegetables and spices for an extended period. Look for a recommended recipe online or ask a friend or family member if they have one they like. Alternatively, you can also find pre-made bone broth at grocery stores, health food stores, or online retailers[2]. It may come in a powdered form or a liquid concentrate.

The one I recommend to my clients is this one: Best of the Bone.
